Cyclone - Axial Flow
Cyclone separators are used to remove liquid and solids from the gas stream and give high efficiency removal of coarse liquid droplets.
With a very high efficiency at 8 microns the multi cyclone separator can handle flow turn down of 4:1, and efficiently remains over 90% at flow turn down of up to 10:1.
Smaller particles are also removed, but below 5 micron the efficiency drops off rapidly.
Gas enters the cyclone tubes and is set spinning so that gas borne particles and droplets are thrown outwards against the cyclone wall by strong centrifugal forces.
The solids and liquids drop from the bottom of each cyclone tube into the common vessel sump.
The clean gas reverses direction and rises still spinning through centre tube of the cyclone and hence to the vessel outlet.
The main advantages of Plenty cyclone equipment are:
Removes solids and liquids.
High removal efficiency over design flow range.
Not affected by changes in contaminant level.
Where heavy wear is expected, easily replaceable cyclone tubes can be provided.
There are no moving parts or filter cartridges to replace.
